Two Centuries of Classical Music

2.30pm Saturday 21 November 2026

Carey Grammar School

349 Barkers Rd KEW

Dear Friends of the orchestra

Our end of year concert is fast approaching!

The program will bring joy to all music lovers, with the haunting beauty of Sibeius’ Swan of Tuonela performed by our own Nicole Gee on cor anglais.

Vivaldi wrote at least 39 bassoon concertos; for this program Martha Ning, an outstanding bassoonist will perform the concerto in e minor.

There is much more in store – featuring seldom heard, Mendelssohn’s Harmoniemusik, plus Smetana – The Moldau, Tchaikovsky – Marche Slave, Haydn – Overture to the Creation.

And notably our dear member Libby Shade, retiring from the orchestra after more than 30 years of dedication, will delight us with the piccolo solos in Rossini’s Thieving Magpie Overture.
