Whitehorse Orchestra performs a series of children’s concerts annually introducing the instruments of an orchestra to children, in a fun, colourful way. The concerts were initiated over 30 years ago by music director Gerald Keuneman OAM, whose passion for bringing fine music to children is longstanding.
The programs typically feature a story set to music, with a narrator, actors and a visual presentation depicting various scenes in the story. The instruments of the orchestra are introduced with small musical excerpts that highlight their sound.
Past concerts to name a few, have included Peter and the wolf, Paddington Bear, Babar the Elephant, Tubby the Tuba, Alice in wonderland and lots more.
This year the story is from ”Sign of the Seahorse’, with the music composed by Australian author, Graeme Base OAM, renowned for his Animalia books.
